In the Philippines new hydropower plants are under investigation, like in many other upcoming countries in Asia and Africa. The New Centennial Water Source Project is a hydropower project in the mountains near Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The project consists of two dams, a headrace tunnel of approximately 27 km and a powerhouse.

Scope of work

The client needed a specialized consultant for the study regarding the headrace tunnels. TEC was assigned by Royal HaskoningDHV to undertake a feasibility study for the tunnels. The task includes the assessment of the technical feasibility of the tunnels, including the selection of excavation method (TBM or Drill&Blast) and type of TBM. TEC also produced the draft project planning and an estimation of the construction costs.
