Closure joint formwork successfully installed in Coatzacoalcos
During the last 10 days the Marine Joint Venture, consisting of Volker Construction International and Dragamex (Boskalis), have installed the closure joint formwork in the immersed tunnel in the port of Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. The closure joint was successfully emptied on the 14th of January. The operation started at around 11am and the doors in the bulkheads were opened 45 minutes later.
The Coatzacoalcos tunnel is the first immersed tunnel in Mexico. The tunnel connects the city of Coatzacoalcos with the town of Allende.
In this project TEC provided the Tender Design for the complete link (immersed tunnel and approaches), Detailed Design of the immersed tunnel including all related temporary structures/works and technical assistance during immersion operations for the construction consortium CTC.
