New Project Rupel Tunnel Belgium
TEC has obtained, as a sub consultant of Witteveen+Bos Belgium NV, a contract for a technical study and design of the roof protection on of the Rupel tunnel.
The Rupel tunnel is constructed in the 70’s as an immersed tunnel under the Rupel river and channel Brussels-Scheldt. The channel is partly deepened to cope with larger ships passing by besides the part above the tunnel. The study will have to demonstrate whether deepening the channel above the tunnel is feasible and if additional measurements have to be taken. The additional measurements will have to protect the tunnel against accidental loads such as sunken ships and anchor impact.
